It is not hard to find thousands of books when you take a visit to any bookstore, or thousands of art pieces when you visit to any museum or gallery. Million of ideas, philosophies, emotions and feelings being captured and encrypted onto these book, these artifacts that signified that this person, the author or creator, were here before.
Over the weekend, Sean was doing some reading. It is his interest, especially reading on Chinese history. Ironically, he had seldom passed this subject during school. But one thing for sure, to learn about 5,000 years of Chinese philosophies and culture had fascinated him.
Take a tour of history, we’ll find that many great emperors, kings or generals tended to use their power to show mightiness through the creation of gigantic monuments, stunning architectures and larger territory. Through all these incidents, people and philosophies, some form of pattern was observed. The fall of one dynasty signified rise of another dynasty. Many events had significantly changed the world we live today. But if we take on these 5,000 years and summarized into 50 minutes, how many of these events and people will be recorded and remembered?
In this modern era, many affluent and wealthy have set up their own private funds, leaving a legacy to help people and be remembered. Whereas, for those people at the grass root level, what they have is only leaving behind their descendants, if not a bunch of bloody unpaid debts.
As a non-affluent working class that doesn’t posses any artistic talent, Sean asked himself: “What am I leaving behind? What is the evidence of my existence?”
